I love a church, architecturally speaking, especially one with ebony coloured wood panelling and all that potent religioso bling. So finding Alexandra Groover’s film presentation for Autumn/Winter 2013 in just such a church, on the Strand, during London Fashion Week, was a boon to my evening, I can tell you.
Alexandra Groover’s 4th film – a suprise edition – in what was initially a trilogy of collections Birth, Life, Death and now Resurrection. The mostly unisex collection consists of Groover’s signature black with her key diverse and unusual pattern cutting. The short film was great with atmospheric music bubbling with bass across the church as we sat at pews to watch.
Although some could say that Groover’s work is closer to an art presentation than sellable fashion, I really like the gravitas she brings to fashion; I do get sick of the media’s portrayal of fashion with that silly plinky plonky background music they use- so much as to say ‘hey this is exciting, this is funky’ (god how I hate it when people use the word funky in that context *shudders*)
