Craft; Rag Rugs

If you’re anything like me, you’ll have a large store of gorgeous cloth oddments, too precious to chuck out, but too random a size to put to any use.

If you’re patient and fond of recycling then rag rugs are the answer!

It goes something like this; Cut your cloth or old but unwearable clothes and cut the fabric into strips, to your own dimensions of choice. But don’t make them too chunky.

Get a piece of hessian and decide on the size and shape of rug you want to make. Then get a knitting needle of a fairly chunky width, but not your crazy extra large ones mind you.

Prod the needle through the hessian and push your first strip through.IMG_0802

Pull the other side through the second hole. Then keep creating holes and pushing the rag strips through in lines close together.

Keep repeating! Till you have a buff rug. This will take HOURS and then some more, but it's good for when you're lounging and itching to do some thing.
