The Vintage Patisserie’s Hair and Make-Up Academy

I was delighted to attend a preview of the about to be launched Vintage Patisserie Hair and Make-Up Academy, with expertise courtesy of Lipstick and Curls. I arrived at the Vintage Patisserie’s new venue in the morning, it was my first time there, and was beautiful and apparently is to be beautified in further alterations and plans.

The pretty tables.

After some refreshments, we began with a demonstration on pin curls and then we were let loose upon each other.

The with more tea and delicious cake, after all the concentrated efforts of pin curls, it was time to let them loose and we were given further interesting tips. I thought I was reasonably good at hairstyling, vintage or otherwise (hopefully a browse through some my archive blog posts will be testament to that), but even so I found I had plenty to learn – like not to fear backcombing and bristle brushes.

Curls, loose, but unbrushed.
Brushed, for a classic set.

With each demonstration, we were shown variations, posiibilities.

I tried out some Victory Rolls for the first time.
